Currently, we are seeking talented Life Underwriting Analysts (Underwriters) and Consultants to join the Life Division. The Life Insurance Division works with financial and insurance professionals to give families and businesses the life insurance coverage needed to help meet important financial protection, wealth accumulation, and wealth preservation goals.


The Life Underwriter is responsible for day to day risk assessment activities. Ensures work is handled in a timely and effective manner with an emphasis on building and maintaining client relationships and making business decisions that align with the Life Insurance Division’s strategies and risk tolerance.


• Responsible to review, analyze, and document evidence for New Business to determine appropriate risk classifications within review and signature authority.
• Receive and respond to general phone inquiries.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships and open communication with field personnel to facilitate submission of business, promote trust, and make it easy to do business with Pacific Life.
• Complete miscellaneous work assignments, project work, etc. as delegated.
• Effectively and professionally communicates verbally and in writing to a variety of individuals (internal/external customers and management level) in a timely manner and within department standards.


• Ability to appraise and underwrite applications for individual and joint life insurance to assess mortality risk within company guidelines
• Knowledge of life underwriting principles and techniques to operate under signature limit of $5 to $10 million of death benefit
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

**Position may be filled in Des Moines, IA or remote locations.**
